I’m writing this on the Winter Solstice – the shortest day and longest night of the year. Our daughter, son-in-law, and granddaughter are halfway around the world – in New Zealand – and today, they are experiencing the exact opposite season switch and transitioning into summer. I’m sure it will be a weather shock when they return to Northern Virginia the first week of January. (Be sure to check out Kelly’s special article on New Zealand plants in “From the Potting Shed”)
It’s hard to believe that the Chronicle is heading into its fifth year of publication! Oh, the stories we’ve shared! Thank you for your unending support and encouragement. Without loyal writers and readers, there would be no CRC! We hope 2023 brings even more positive change. We want to celebrate our 5th birthday in some way this year. Stay tuned for more details coming soon!
I finished my Goodreads reading challenge this year – I’m topping out at one book above my goal: 126 books for 2022. I think I’ll keep my 2023 challenge the same number, 125 is a good stretch. I’d like to spend more time writing this year as well – but that goal is also on my resolution list every year (along with eating healthy, exercising, and being nice!)
I hope you had a good holiday season. We get to have two Christmases this year. One on December 25 and the other on January 14 when Kelly, Chris, and Iva Grace return from their grand New Zealand adventure! That will give me an excuse to keep the tree up longer than usual.
Have a wonderful January, and I’ll talk to you again next month.
