We are Sam and Kim Wilkins and we are retired full time RVers in search of 70 degree weather. Our home is now a 42-foot fifth wheel.
We sold our home and most of our belongings in order to see what this great United States has to offer by way of beautiful scenery. Along the way we have met some of the nicest people.
We are still dealing with chilly weather, in the 50s and 60s and windy, along with rain (and one hail storm) and I thought Florida was supposed to be the sunshine state?! I have been seeing posts from family and friends back home and I believe I’d rather have the weather here than having to shovel snow.
We joined some friends and took a trip to Crystal River National Wildlife Refuge/Three Sisters Spring where there were many manatees enjoying warm water. These docile creatures were fun to see and it was a lovely day to spend with friends.
We visited my cousin, Janet, and her husband, Mike, on Anna Maria Island, FL, what a beautiful place. We walked along a white sand beach, ate some very good seafood and enjoyed riding around and seeing some sites on the island. What a blessing it is to visit family and enjoy each other’s company.
Some of the ladies and I were enjoying playing a game of marbles and the sky got very dark, our phone sounded with a National Weather Alert of tornado warnings and then the sky opened up. The hail began as pea size then increased to marble size. The building we were in was safe. Luckily we did not receive any damage to either our camper or truck. There was one camper whose awning was damaged and we heard of a dent in vehicles here and there. We feel very blessed that a tornado didn’t visit us that day.
Our friends from PA came to this campground, we met them in the KOA Campground in VA and and been friends ever since. They work with guards and make baskets. I got to make another one and this time it was just a little different but so much fun.
I got my new microwave. Boy have I have missed the convenience that a microwave brings. Heating up leftovers is not much fun without one.
That is the excitement that is my retired full time RVer life. We are blessed!
Till next time.
Kim
