December, 1884 – Covered bridge construction is completed
December 18, 1940 – Timberville put up the town’s first community Christmas tree. It was a twenty-five-foot cedar tree placed in the yard of R. C. Coffelt’s Restaurant on Main Street. It was hoped that this would be an annual affair.
December 28, 1925 – Some of the townspeople were ice skating tonight above the Timberville bridge. It was 12 degrees.
December 18, 1902 – I went “belsnickling” with about twenty-five boys tonight.
December 14, 1938 – Automobile and truck traffic began crossing the new Timberville bridge this afternoon. The bridge replaced the old covered bridge.
December 10, 1939 – Rev. Richardson of the State Anti-Saloon League gave an illustrated lecture on temperance at the Brethren Church.
Saturday, December 19, 1925 – The picture “The Wives of the Prophet” was shown here in Timberville tonight. The theatre was full.
December 15, 1912 – Literary Society meeting tonight, Debate was “Lincoln deserves more credit for preserving the union than Washington did for originating it.”
