May is here (or almost!) and it’s finally time to get those seeds and plants in the ground! I have a wide range of gardening emotions between May and August. I start out with the grand plan of planting a huge patch of vegetables and becoming self-sufficient over the winter months. By July, I’m doubting my original scheme, and come the end of August, I’m hoping Food Lion doesn’t run out of corn and beans this year. But this lack of follow through never seems to dampen my spring enthusiasm!
School is winding down for the year, and the students (and a certain teacher I know) are ready for a long summer break. Although looking at my schedule, “break” is loosely defined! It will still be nice to have a change of scenery for ten weeks. Do you have big plans for the summer? We’re planning our annual beach vacation with the kiddos. Our oldest daughter, son-in-law, and granddaughter will be flying around the world to New Zealand to spend time with Chris’s mom, dad, and brother, so they’ll miss the trip to Chincoteague this year. We’ll miss them, but I’m glad they have the opportunity to visit the N.Z. family.
As always, thank you for your faithful support of the Chronicle. We appreciate the positive feedback. It’s nice to know our little paper is having a positive influence on the local communities. Make sure to thank our advertisers. We could not exist without their support.
I hope you have a great month!
Until next time…
