We are Sam and Kim Wilkins and we are retired full time RVers in search of 70 degree weather. Our home is now a 42-foot fifth wheel. We sold our home and most of our belongings in order to see what this great United States has to offer by way of beautiful scenery. Along the way we have met some of the nicest people.

There are a group of women friends who I get together with on a regular basis. At least once a week we play games, our favorite is Mexican Train Dominoes. Every once in a while we make a girls day of it and go shopping and go out to eat. This month’s trip was to Gainesville and our eatery was an eclectic pizza place called Satch’s. This place threw me back into the 70’s with all the hippy decorations. An old VW van is parked out front and used as seating for customers. The food was great! Girls day out is always fun.
Our camper, which is our home, has a hiccup every once in a while. The latest was when our microwave/convection oven blew a fuse. Thanks to YouTube there are videos to direct you through fixing just about anything. To think of the lengths we had to go to and the waiting before technology. Parts have been ordered and it should be working tomorrow at the latest.
I have been a blood donor since I was 17 years old, my total donations are over 22 gallon. While living in Virginia the service was Red Cross but while in Florida the service is called One Blood. They have a Big Red Bus mobile unit and when it is parked at a local business I take my bike and meet the bus for my donation. This visit was a couple of days before my birthday. The crew went into the local establishment and purchased a tiny cake and some balloons and sang “Happy Birthday” to me. With a tear in my eye I gave each of them a hug. It was so very thoughtful of them to go out of their way to make me feel special.
The local eatery here in Starke that a group from the campground visits every Monday evening so when they threw a St. Patrick’s Day celebration we were all invited. Corned beef, cabbage, baked potatoes and shepherd’s pie was on the menu. What fun it was to be included in a great gathering!
My birthday was filled with texts & messages, phone calls, flowers from the hubby and FaceTimes and family members singing the happy birthday song to me. My FaceBook profile blew up with well wishes. I am humbled and blessed to have so many beautiful people in life who take time out of their day to make me feel so very blessed. A fellow camper and friend, Wendall Comer, also shares the same birthdate as me and generously grilled some great steaks for our birthday which was shared by a group of friends. I plan to top off my birthday with one more surprise in a few days. If you follow me on FaceBook and, hopefully, you’ve already watched my FB live you know what I mean. For those who don’t, you’ll just have to wait for pictures in next month’s article.
Make every day count. Be a blessing to others. Till next time.
