We are Sam and Kim Wilkins, and we are retired full time RVers in search of 70 degree weather. Our home is now a 42-foot fifth wheel.
We sold our home and most of our belongings in order to see what this great United States has to offer by way of beautiful scenery. Along the way we have met some of the nicest people.
We have quickly gotten back into the swing of snowbirds life. The winter weather here is a bit different from home but it is still chilly. There has only been one pool day so far and I hope that changes soon.
We traveled to St. Augustine and rode a trolley to take in the beautiful Christmas lights and shout out “Happy New Year” to those walking by. We sang Christmas carols and enjoyed warm cider and a cookie when we were finished.
I’ve been donating blood since I was 17 years old and having O- blood type I’m contacted on a regular basis by the American Red Cross asking for more every eight weeks. I received my 21-gallon pin meaning a total donation of 168 units. While in Florida I visit the “Big Red Bus” and continue to donate at least twice, sometimes three times, over the winter. The need is great and gets greater every year. If you’ve never donated or haven’t in a while I would encourage you to consider contacting www.redcross.org and give the gift of life.
We attended the Tampa RV Show just to tour the new makes and model campers, check out the vendors and enjoy all the entertainment, like a 7 foot robot, they had to offer. After looking at quite a few of the newer models we realized just how blessed we are to have the one we’ve called home for the last 5 years. One day we may have to do something different but for right now we’re content.
On our way home we stopped in Zephyrhills to visit our friends, Charlie and Cheryl. We met them while living in Shenandoah/Harrisonburg KOA after we sold our home and hadn’t yet retired. It was so good to see them and enjoy lunch together. We’ve been making our visits an annual, sometimes biannual, event. Blessed to have friends.
Thank you to all for joining me in prayer for my sister, Dawn, and my grandson, Matthew. Please keep those prayers coming.
Blessings,
Kim
