HWith all the hot and humid days we’ve been having , bass will surely be in a summertime pattern. The Shenandoah River and local lakes are in good fishing condition due to all the recent storms and rain events.
Water temperatures will continue to rise, and this means top water baits are the name of the game. Torpedoes, buzz baits and whopper poppers are good choices, or maybe you have one that you have confidence in.
For me early morning or late evening is when I like to be on the water. I don’t care to be out in the middle of the day, but if you don’t mind the heat there are fish to be caught. I would begin fishing in moving water. Fish around big rocks or logs that will break the current flow, or grass if it’s there. Target these areas with small crankbaits, spinners and Senko’s. Fish will also be in deeper pockets just below rapids. Throw spinnerbaits, crankbaits and jigs in these areas.
If you are out in the heat of the day look for grass mats. On a bright and sunny day bass will push back under these mats. Throw frogs and work them back to the boat slowly.
Also, this time of year bass like to hang around submerged grass just off the edge of the flats. I would target these fish with rattletraps, spinnerbaits, Texas rigged worms and jigs. On rainy cloudy days bass will most likely be in shallow water or pushed up against the bank. And that my friend is some easy pickings.
Summertime fishing is just a fun time to be outdoors. Bass, panfish, catfish are all biting and they are just waiting for you.
Have a great time on the water this summer! Be safe and take a kid fishing!
Jesus’ disciples were taking him across the lake, and as Jesus slept a fierce storm came up. The disciples were afraid. They thought they were going to die. They woke Jesus up and he calmed the storm.
We all go through storms in this life, wither emotional or spiritual. If we put our trust in Jesus, oh how much calmer the trials in this life would be. The storms and trials won’t go away, but what a relief knowing God is right there through each and every one. So put your trust in and faith in Jesus and watch what he can do.
Psalms 62:8 Oh my people, trust in him at all times. Pour out your heart to him, for God is our refuge.
Have a great summer fishing!
