Congratulations to Hillyard FFA members that competed in the Blue Ridge Area Forestry contest yesterday. The contest was held in the Rockfish area of Nelson County and our students fared well.
Individually, Hillyard swept the top 4 spots with Rachel Haviland, John Haviland, Taylor Arbogast and Natalie Craig placing 1-4 respectively. These individuals comprised the winning team that will advance to the state contest at Dabney Lancaster Community College in April.
The “B” team of all 6th grade students punched above their weight bracket with team members Jackson Arbogast and Gracyn Arbogast placing 10th and 11th. Along with Maddy Schweigert and Lance Payne, they placed 5th as a team. Alternate team member Alec Mitchell placed well in his first regional contest.
