Handy with Randy

If one of your resolutions is to live a more organized life in 2025, you’re in good company. Recently, I sat down and created a month-by-month guide to help you tackle practical home projects. Instead of trying to do everything all at once, take it one month at a time. I think you’ll find that by this time next year, you’ll find yourself in a more relaxed and organized state.

January
Start the year strong by turning an unused room into a home gym. Declutter the space and add essentials: a large mirror to monitor your form, a shock-absorbing mat, and a fan to stay cool. Install your gym equipment and the rest is up to you!

February
Winter chill seeping in? Check your windows to ensure they’re weather-tight. Cover drafty windows with plastic and use caulk where needed to seal gaps. These small fixes will keep your home cozy and heating cost down.

March
Spring cleaning time! Go room by room to declutter and donate items you no longer use. Check expiration dates on products and toss the outdated ones. Deep clean every nook and cranny—you might even rediscover forgotten treasures in the process.

April
Get your home records in order. File appliance manuals, warranties, and important receipts in a physical or digital filing system. Having these documents organized saves time and headaches when you need them.

May
Prepare your outdoor spaces for summer fun. Rake leaves, clean up debris, and refresh surfaces with stain or paint as needed. A little effort now means more enjoyable outdoor moments later.

June
Boost your home’s curb appeal! Maintain your lawn, invest in stylish outdoor furniture, and consider painting your front door or trim for a fresh look. Small updates can make a big difference.

July
Midyear is perfect for plumbing maintenance. Flush your water heater and test your shut-off valve to ensure it’s operational. Check for minor leaks and repair them before they escalate. Replace or clean water filters and softeners if you have them.

August
Enhance your home’s security. Installing a smart doorbell adds peace of mind by letting you see who’s at the door, even when you’re away. It’s an easy upgrade with lasting benefits.

September
Make your home more energy-efficient. Change HVAC filters, switch to LED bulbs, and re-caulk windows and doors. These steps will save energy and lower utility bills.

October
Safety first! Replace smoke alarm batteries and clean or replace humidifier filters. A few minutes of effort can prevent bigger issues later.

November
Create a home cleaning routine to stay on top of chores. Plan daily, weekly, and monthly tasks, and organize all your cleaning supplies in one place. A tidy home starts with a solid plan.

December
Get ready to welcome guests! Update your decor, add a fresh coat of paint where needed, and create a warm, inviting atmosphere to enjoy the holiday season.

You can tackle each month’s tasks at your own pace. Your home will thank you for the care and attention, and you’ll enjoy a more organized, comfortable space year-round. Remember, if you have any questions about living a more organized life, here at Randy’s Hardware, we don’t mind your questions. We don’t mind them at all!
