Happy December!
I’m writing this on the Wednesday before Thanksgiving. November has been quite an eventful month! Our biggest news is the birth of our new granddaughter. Madelynn Quinn McCartney joined us on Thursday, November 7 at 2:33 pm. I was fortunate to meet her about two hours after she was born, and I got to spend her first two days with her and our daughter, Katie. Madelynn is already such a curious, alert little girl. She has this look of wonder about her, like “where is this place and what am I doing here?”
We also got to hear our son, Matt, along with the rest of the Amateur Rodeo band, recorded their first (live) album at Clementines in Harrisonburg. The band has an amazing sound––their social media profile describes it as “original music by Julia Catherine and a wide array of All-Americana music.” Definitely an enjoyable evening!
Our daughter, Kelly and family came to visit as well. We visited Showalter’s Orchard and enjoyed a lovely fall outing. We watched a hard-working dog herd a string of baby pigs back to their mama. They were small enough to creep out under the electric fence. Kelly talked to the mama pig about how easy it is to lose track of so many little ones and she came right up and “spoke” directly to Kelly for a good 15 seconds. I guess we’ll never know what she said, but she seemed to agree with Kelly’s advice!
In Chronicle news, we’re thrilled to welcome another writer to our CRC family! Drew Alexander shares his first article in this month’s issue. We look forward to hearing many more stories from him!
Thank you again for your continued support of the Chimney Rock Chronicle. I hope you enjoy the glimpse into the inner workings of the paper! I didn’t include this tidbit, but much of the paper gets put together in the family room by the woodstove! When we became empty nesters, I made an office out of one of the empty bedrooms. I don’t think I ever used it! The recliner is much more comfortable!
I wish each of you a most joyous Christmas and a hopeful, happy New Year!
Until next month,
Tammy
