Happy October!
September is over and fall is here! I always see September as the official conclusion of summer activities—the pool closes, family vacations are over, and school is well underway. The last produce from the garden is harvested and put away for winter, and summer (this year reluctantly) fades into autumn.
The rain didn’t come in time to save our garden, but we had an excellent grape harvest from our little deck arbor. I canned eight half-pints of grape jelly. I didn’t have pectin on hand, so acting on advice from friends, I loaded the grape juice with sugar and let it all cook down for around 50 minutes. The flavor and texture is perfect. This may never happen again, so I’m marking this occasion!
Randy and I went with our oldest daughter, son-in-law, and granddaughter spent this past Saturday at the Renaissance Faire in Annapolis, MD. The event was sold out, so it was packed with folks celebrating Medieval Days. We saw two court jesters perform a comedy skit, an amazing juggler, and a guy who could make music by cracking whips. Iva (our granddaughter) and I wore similar dresses, so it was fun “twinning it” for the day.
I hope October finds you healthy and happy! Enjoy the stories in the Chronicle and give the puzzle a try! It will be fun to see your name listed along with other friends in neighbors.
Until next month, be safe, be happy, and be curious!
