The close of another school year brings with it a nostalgic, bittersweet end. As families look forward to another summer of fun and adventure, our senior students prepare to blaze a new trail into an uncharted future. It is an exciting time when we acknowledge what has come before and welcome a future of possibilities.
Speaking of acknowledging what has come before, the Fulks Run Ruritan Club was honored to participate in a unique observance of our longstanding history in the community at our April meeting. The Club hosted a 100th birthday celebration for Trevillo “Bill” Miller. Bill is the only surviving charter member of the Fulks Run Ruritan Club, and we were pleased to welcome him and his family to the meeting. We celebrated with cake and ice cream, and club members shared stories about Bill.
At our May meeting, we looked toward the future as we discussed our ongoing park improvement project. We encourage the community to be on the lookout for new playground equipment in the upcoming weeks. We are also working on plans for a walking path and hope to have the path and benches installed later this summer. The future is indeed looking bright for our treasured park, and we are excited to provide these resources to our community.
The club also selected recipients for our annual scholarship awards, which will be presented to seniors at Broadway High School’s awards program in June. Congratulations to all our local and BHS graduates! In the words of Emerson, “Do not follow where the path may lead. Go, instead, where there is not path and leave a trail.” Seniors, never forget where your path began—may every new trail you blaze also leave a familiar pathway home. On behalf of the Fulks Run Ruritan Club, we wish you all a successful and blessed future!
