We are Sam and Kim Wilkins and we are retired full time RVers in search of 70 degree weather. Our home is now a 42-foot fifth wheel.
We sold our home and most of our belongings in order to see what this great United States has to offer by way of beautiful scenery. Along the way we have met some of the nicest people.
It has been a warm few weeks which makes me thankful for the pool here at the campground. This pool has even enticed some of our grandchildren into visiting and enjoying a cool dip. Any reason for grandchildren to visit is a good reason!
Sam was asked to be a temporary camp host while the full time host took a staycation, He was able to do some mowing and weed eating. He helped to check new campers in and carried around a clip board making him feel very official.
We visited a local establishment who offered wood fired pizza and since we hadn’t had pizza in a good while it tasted so yummy. We’d never enjoyed a wood fired pizza before so it was also a new experience for us both.
Our friends, Amy and Todd, have been offering to take us on a tour of “the mountain” where some of Todd’s and Sam’s family used to live. We were finally able to take this drive on a beautiful Sunday afternoon. The Canadian smoke was not an issue that day and we were very thankful, we could see for miles. We were reminded of how people, back in the day, did not depend on the modern day conveniences. Everyone grew a garden, raised their own livestock and picked fruit growing wild. It was hard work but simpler times. At our age we long for “simple times” once again. Oh, to sit on a front porch and listen to a whippoorwill calling, watch the lighting bugs flicker and the evening crickets sing there song. Yes, I have to say it “those were to good ol’ days”.
We are coming up on reunion season, we attend three. First up is Sam’s mother’s family (Foltz), then is father’s (Wilkins) then will be my father’s (Brady). Reunions are a dying tradition and we are now the oldest generation so the older we get the more important it is to take the time and share the memories. We are very blessed to still have family. Of course the food is usually great as well.
Blessings till next time,
Kim
