We are Sam and Kim Wilkins and we are retired full time RVers in search of 70 degree weather. Our home is now a 42-foot fifth wheel.
We sold our home and most of our belongings in order to see what this great United States has to offer by way of beautiful scenery. Along the way we have met some of the nicest people.
Another summer month has passed. Why is it that the older you get the faster time speeds by. I’ve heard it said often that at the age of 50 you are over the hill. Well then that explains it, once you are over that hill you’re picking up speed on the way down the other side.
My daughter, Sharon, and my grandson, Jaden, set off on a hike that I took last year with friends to see where the Lost River sinks. The weather was quite warm but we had lots of shade from the trees so it wasn’t that horrible. The dryness once again made it possible to see the exact spot where the water just disappears into the ground and it was so much fun to see the surprise on my family’s face in seeing this phenomenon.
I participate in a Bible Study Fellowship group with women from all over the country but for those of us in the area we gathered at Dayton’s Farmers Market for lunch. After seeing these faces on Zoom it was great to meet them in person. What fun it was to visit and enjoy each other.
My son, Joseph, brought his two daughters back for a cool dip in the pool. Penelope and I had the pool all to ourselves. Clover wasn’t as happy to be in the 74 degree water so she sat on daddy’s lap and watched us play. It was a great visit and we enjoyed a snack after play. Both girls were tuckered out and fell asleep as soon as they were on the road home.
Penelope’s fifth birthday party was a hit. I’d never been to the Mt. Jackson Community Park before, what a nice facility. There were lots of little girls squealing and running around. After pizza and fruit then came the cake along with some cupcakes. After that most everyone hit the pool.
Next month will be full of family reunions. This is an activity that is dying so we are very fortunate that we have three to attend. Sam’s mother’s family, Foltz, is first in Broadway. Next is Sam’s father’s family, Wilkins, which will be at Lost River State Park. Then my father’s family, Brady, which will be in Gilmer County WV. I look forward to seeing faces, giving hugs and catching up on every day goings on. The food isn’t too shabby either. I hope and pray you are as blessed with family gatherings.
My sister, Dawn, has completed her radiation therapy and will now be only on chemo pills for a year. An MRI next month will give them results of how she is progressing. Her faith is so very inspiring. Her family and church family has been her rock through this time. Thank you so very much for every prayer that goes up on her behalf.
Blessings until next time.
Kim
