We are Sam and Kim Wilkins and we are retired full time RVers in search of 70 degree weather. Our home is now a 42-foot fifth wheel.
We sold our home and most of our belongings in order to see what this great United States has to offer by way of beautiful scenery. Along the way we have met some of the nicest people.
When we left you last month we’d had a tire blowout and since then we’ve been able to have most of that corrected. We now have two new tires on our home and the spare now has a better tire on it as well. The fixing of the damage to the fender is not yet completed as we wait on shipment of some screws that were on backorder (surprise surprise). Everything else has been delivered, the fender with the trim, so we are getting close. One of our FL friends is a retired Ford body guy and is on standby once the screws arrive.
One of the slides on our home developed an issue with the motors so we called a local mobile repair company that we’ve used for installing upgrades and they were able to diagnose the problem. Thankfully the motors were under warranty and were replaced and our slide is working good as new. Just as a homeowner must deal with maintenance on their sticks and bricks we must face problems arising with our full time RV home.
Our intro always says we are in search of 70-degree weather and FL is usually the place we find it, however, an unusually cold winter is giving us some chilly temperatures. We still feel blessed with 50-degree temps after talking to family and friends back home and seeing so many snow pictures posted on FaceBook. We certainly do not miss all the shoveling!
We attended the Tampa RV Show, this was our third year attending, and had some serious sticker shock at the prices on the new campers and feel very fortunate to already own the one we purchased in February of 2020. We thankfully are not considering upgrading any time soon.
When we started this adventure, we watched some of those who’d already made the transition and posted their own adventures on YouTube. Some of them we began watching on a regular basis. We had the pleasure of meeting three of these couples at the RV Show. What a pleasure it was to meet them in person and to give them a handshake. They were as genuinely sweet and personable in person as they are in their YouTube posts.
What a pleasure it was.
We pray that all of our readers are doing well and that each and every one of you are warm and safe. As we enter the second month of 2022 we pray for all those who have been affected by sickness or loss of loved ones. We appreciate those of you who pray for us in our travels, we covet them, we feel them are so very grateful.
Blessings until next time.
