If you need some on the road truck repair, Tristan Crawford of Cub Run Repair, is the man to call.
The Fulks Run resident moved to town last year, and operates as a mobile service. He said “I am in the beginning stages of building a shop nearby. The mobile service does very well and continues to grow and will continue to grow, we just need a homebase for doing major repairs and lengthy projects.”
The business is advertised on different websites, catering to trucks and trucking companies. They are available 24/7 but try to keep Sundays open for family, although that is not always possible.
Originally from Penn Laird, Tristan’s fiancé, Diondrea, is from Linville/Broadway area. Tristan attended MTC for Auto Repair, and was soon hired to work on cars and light duty trucks in Harrisonburg.
He says “I remained at that company for 2 years, and then went to Penske Truck Leasing to start my career working on semis. After more than a year of planning and preparing, I left Penske on August 14, 2020, and began the journey on my own. Penske provided in house and factory training for most all makes and models of trucks.”
“We do just about anything – fuel delivery, filter changes, A/C. brakes, coolant/oil leaks, air brake system repair, turbochargers, belts/hoses, U joints, pinion yokes, electrical diagnostics, hydraulic hose replacement, forced regenerations, suspension airbags, batteries, etc. Basically, stem to stern, we can take care of them!”
“Tractor trailers make up 95% of our work. We will work on farm equipment/tractors and are happy to help farmers however possible, though we may not have necessary/specific tooling or software that pertains to them. There are many pieces of farm equipment that share engines or have very similar engines to those used on road applications, and in that case, we would have the software or engine specific tooling required. We also welcome the occasional pickup truck – the main limiting factor in working on them, is being able to get around/under them to do the work necessary.”
Tristan’s company has one part-time employee, and plans to hire a full time person soon. Additional employees will be needed once the shop is completed.
Tristan enjoys being part of the community, giving away a box of Turner Ham/ Fulks Run Grocery products and participating in the Broadway Christmas Parade. As he says, “We enjoy being part of the community whenever possible. I liked the idea of the Turner Ham’s boxes as it’s a small way to say thank you to the community for their support, and to help bring a little extra publicity to Turner Ham and Fulks Run.”
Tristan and Cub Run Service can be found on Facebook and Instagram, where you might also see his occasional co-pilot, Diesel!
