Being inducted into any Hall of Fame is among some of the highest honors that can be bestowed to an individual. Being inducted into the Broadway High School Hall of Fame is no different. The BHS Hall of Fame was started with the first class in 2012 and has now grown to 72 members. It is full of former BHS athletes and contributors to the Athletic Department that have made a lasting impact on the school and the community.

Broadway High School Hall of Fame Class of 2024:

Katie Hottinger (Class of 2009)

Katie Hottinger, Class of 2009, was a standout basketball player at BHS. She earned for letters in girls basketball and currently ranks third in career points, tenth in points in a single game and is currently the BHS Record Holder for career rebounds, in which she grabbed 791. Hottinger was a two-time First Team All-District selection. She never finished with fewer than 176 rebounds in a season, including grabbing 218 rebounds in a single season, which currently ranks fourth in BHS history.

Jim Moyers (Class of 1954)

Jim Moyers, Class of 1954, lettered in Baseball, Basketball and Football during his two years at the newly created Broadway High School. He was the Co-Captain of the Football team and finished his baseball career with a .525 batting average and an .825 slugging percentage. Moyers also served as the BHS Boys Basketball Coach from 1963-1968.

Joel Phillips (Class of 2011)

Joel Phillips, Class of 2011, was a multi-sport athlete at BHS, participating in Football, soccer, track and basketball. During his time at BHS, Phillips was a four-time First Team All-District selection and a six-time Second Team All-District selection. He was a Four Time All-District selection in track where he was the District Champion in the 400 meters, an event in which he still holds the BHS Record. He was a three-time All-District selection for Indoor Track where he won multiple district championships and is the current record holder in the 55 meter dash. Phillips was also a two-time All-Region selection. On the soccer pitch, Phillips was a two-time All-District selection and was time to the All-Region First and Second Team.

Mike Richardson (Class of 2012)

Mike Richardson, Class of 2012, was a key contributor to the BHS Basketball team during his time at BHS. Richardson was part of the most successful three year stretch in BHS Basketball history when his teams finished a combined 55-25. Richardson earned All- District and All-Region honors in Sophomore, Junior and Senior Seasons. As a Senior he was named First-Team All District and First Team-All Region. Richardson finished his career at BHS with 1,178 points, which is fifth all time. He also finished with 792 career rebounds (second all time) and his 75 career three-pointers ranks sixth all time.

Richardson is currently the BHS Record holder in Blocked Shots in a season (41) and in a career (106).

When asked about Richardson, BHS Coach Dwight Walton said, “Michael Richardson was the complete package. He was an incredible player, a great teammate and a pleasure to coach… His basketball knowledge was incredible.

Coach Walton continued, “He was so much fun and truly made me smile and laugh every day. He became a great player because of the dedication and hard work he put in consistently. This young man meant more to me than just the game of basketball.”

Jim Wampler (Class of 1967)

Jim Wampler, Class of 1967, was track and basketball standout at BHS. On the track, he was part of the 1967 Group II State Mile Relay Champions. On the hardwood, Wampler led the Gobblers in scoring as a junior and senior, and when he graduated ranked second in career points and first in career rebounds. Currently his 834 points ranks 15th all-time and his 400 rebounds is 16th all-time at BHS.
