I’m writing this on the screened porch at a beach house in Chincoteague. All nine of us are together for seven days of fun, games, and relaxation (and let’s be real – an occasional bike wreck and a peppering of bug bites!) Our grand-puppy, Miss Bella is here as well. It’s a bittersweet time since this is almost certainly the last beach trip our Bella beagle will make with us. She is 15 years old, and her health is failing rapidly. She was able to go to a doggy-friendly spot on the bay this morning and sniff the ocean air and walk in the sand. Although the weather was cloudy and breezy, she seemed to enjoy her outing and slept soundly on the way back home.
We have one more full day on the beach. Most days have been chilly and rainy, but we’ve managed to dodge the drops and still have some fun times in the water and sand. Randy and I drove down to the beach during a storm yesterday. The foamy, powerful, crashing waves were a sight to behold!
We bought a kitty-cam to keep an occasional eye on our cats, Rocky and Prue back at home. Our friend, Jamie, is checking on them while we’re gone. I miss them, although from the occasional glances at the camera, they appear to be having a grand old time running across forbidden kitchen counters and being “kings of the castle.”
Our middle daughter, Katie, started a yummy new tradition for our family this year: a fudge tasting! We bought 12 different kinds of fudge (including maple walnut, chocolate, pony tracks, oreo, salted nut, s’mores, and more!) and had a sampling of each. By the time I got to the last ones, I was no longer tasting flavor – just sugar! I was too full of sweets to make the traditional visit to the Island Creamery for a scoop of Marsh Mud. Perhaps this evening.
I hope you’re enjoying your summer! Stay in touch.
Until next time,
Tammy
