Hello, Friends,
Happy April!
I’ve enjoyed watching the crocuses, daffodils, primroses, and yes, even the dandelions, pop out this week. The days of rain and sunshine have pushed our season along quickly. I hope the frost doesn’t put a halt to the new buds and blooms. The last windstorm topped a couple of our trees, so our back lot looks like a lumber yard! Our house must be in a wind tunnel; we seem to lose trees each time we have sustained gusts.
I’m writing this at the beginning of our school spring break. I’m looking forward to a week of relaxing and gearing up for the final quarter of the 2023-24 school year. Middle schoolers seem to require an extra burst of energy those last nine weeks of school. Like me, they look out the window and decide that life outdoors amongst the green grass and sunshine beats sitting at a desk any day.
Randy and I went to the Virginia Festival of the Book last week. My favorite session was a panel discussion with two mystery writers – Aggie Blum Thompson and Steve Weddle. Both authors write southern crime fiction, and I thoroughly enjoyed learning about their writing and research process, and how they get words on to paper. I just finished a draft of my own cozy mystery book. I hope to get it back from my editor the first week of April. More details to come!
