Well, March sure brought the wind; we can only trust that April will follow up with the showers.
I hope you’re all doing well. I am heading into spring break, and I can’t be more excited for a week at home!
You may have noticed that the Chronicle is a little chunkier this month. We’ve added four more pages. I mentioned last month that I had a challenging time fitting all the articles and photos into the allotted space. This month, it would have been impossible to share all the stories without adding extra pages. Please remember to thank the businesses that sponsor the CRC; their generosity has made our expansion possible.
We went to Grand Caverns with a friend yesterday and I was surprised at the spread of flowers in Grottoes—I think the southeastern part of the county is a bit ahead of Broadway with their spring blooms. Along with daffodils, hyacinths, and forsythia, I also saw, blood root, redbuds, wild violets, and the sweet-smelling arbutus. I even saw a few honeybees checking out the violets. Each season has a unique color palette, and I love spring’s display: buttery yellow, pastel lilac, blushing pink, and silvery white.
The Rocktown Author’s festival is coming up on April 12 at Massanutten Regional Library. If you happen to be in the ‘burg, stop by and see me! I’ll mostly have my books at my table, but I’ll also tuck in a few extra Chronicles as well. And speaking of writing, I’m doing the Rough Draft challenge this month. I’m hoping to write 2000 words each day in April. If I’m able to do a reasonable job of keeping up with my goals, I’ll report on my progress next month. If you don’t hear anything, well… let’s just pretend this conversation didn’t happen!
