After a busy July running around the Valley, Christopher was able to find some great picks from his favorite places, as well as the Route 11 Yard Crawl. He went early to the Crawl, on Friday, traveling from Harrisonburg to Mt Jackson. One of his favorite finds are antique cash register
ticket spikes that he uses for place card settings. He discovered a National Cash Register spike to add to his collection! Also unearthed were some very sweet German and Japanese deco pin holders to upcycle or just admire. One of his best picks was a wonderful cast iron boot scraper for the potting porch, plus salvaged walnut pieces from an Eastlake dresser/table.
Always on the lookout for flower frogs, Christopher discovered a very unique German pottery bird flower frog, a celadon creamer, and several other pottery pieces.
In her own travels, Pat scored a pair of cast iron lawn chairs online, and a French made teapot for a Francophile friend, from J&B Country Store. Also, a more modern pottery frog, Christopher is rubbing off on her! A funky little find, also at J&B, was a plastered white baby shoe (circa 1950’s/60’s) that had wheels added to it! A great base for a li’l needle felted critter to ride in. Who doesn’t need a plastered baby shoe with wheels!!!
September promises to be a great month for picking, so Christopher and Pat will see you here next month! You might even see them on the road – if you do, say hi, and show off your latest finds!
