We sold our home and most of our belongings in order to see what this great United States has to offer by way of beautiful scenery. Along the way we have met some of the nicest people.
It has finally warmed up here in Florida and it’s been so enjoyable wearing summer clothes. We have been using our electric bikes like crazy, Sam more than myself. His energy is back and we are so very grateful for good health. The app for my bike has tracked 74 miles that I’ve logged since December 18th. Sam is on his bike much more than me.
The guys finally got our gazebo together and we have been using it so very much. It makes such a great gathering place in the evenings. When it is cooler after dark we’ve been using our propane fire pit as well. When the wind kicks up, we can close the curtains as well. We are so blessed to have these great amenities.

A local business just a few miles down the road from us has lots of fresh seafood so we ordered a half bushel of oysters which were ready for pick up the next week. There was a time when eating an oyster for me was not a pleasant experience, but when I tried a raw one on the half shell last year when our granddaughter, Deandra, visited it was a revelation! It took us four days to get through all of the half bushel. We’ve steamed them on the stove and on the grill to open them up. Some we eat raw and some we’ve steamed a little longer. For me they are best with lemon and horseradish. Sam likes them best with lemon and hot sauce. Yummy!
There are three couples who live just a few hours away and for 6 years have visited us around Valentine’s Day. Their visit this year was to this new campground they’d been curious about. They enjoyed the new facilities, and we had so many gatherings. They cook the entire time they’re here and we get to enjoy it with them. We’ve made so many friends here in FL and these “kids” as we call them have been such a blessing to us.
Our wonderful son, C. J., butchered a few weeks back and when he was sharing with us I remembered the great times we’ve had helping with butchering. The though of fresh ponhoss and cracklins was making my mouth water. They canned some of their sausage for the first time and we reminisced about the smell of frying the canned sausage and the memories it evoked of my Aunt Beaulah, my daddy’s oldest sister. The next thing I know I’m receiving a package with two quarts of sausage and 3 packs of cracklins. Thank you so much C.J. and family for sharing!
We’re missing friends and family from back home and pray you’re all doing well.
Blessings till next time.
Kim
