On Sunday afternoon, March 15, nearly fifty people had afternoon tea together at the Plains District Memorial Museum. The annual tea has been a popular event for the museum for several years now, and for good reason! The multi-course menu featured dilled cucumbers with cream cheese on baguettes, ham and cheese mini quiches, and turkey with apple slaw. The second course featured lemon and orange ginger scones with homemade clotted cream, and for dessert, attendees enjoyed macaroons, short bread, and brownie truffles. J and B Country Store in Broadway donated a large assortment of teas, and museum volunteers made the food.
The after-tea entertainment featured Pat Turner Ritchie, dressed as Civil War era “Aunt Eve.” She shared stories of what it was like in the area during this time period.
If you missed the tea this year, look for ticket to go on sale in late winter next year. But don’t be slow. Seats sell out quickly!
