Whirlwind!

WOW–what a whirlwind of a year 2026 has been so far, in the JFHMS Music Department!    I truly thought the fall/winter was our busiest season, but reading through the list below suggests otherwise.  As of today, we may only be 83 days into 2026, but we have had Band, Choir and Theatre students participating in quite a few voluntary events, shows, and District level performances, including;

Jan 9/10 “City-County Honors Band”, held at ERHS (13 students, by nomination)

Jan 23 “Dinner and a Show” fundraiser, to replace the JFH Gym Sound System

Feb 6-7 “All–District Band”, at Staunton HS (9 students, by audition)

Feb 12th Con. Band workshop with composer Quincy Hilliard, at SHS (38 students)

Feb 13 “All-District Choir” at B’water Church of the Brethren (7 students, by audition)

Feb 25 “Hawks Highlight” Night JFH auditorium, including:  Instrument Petting Zoo in the Band room (10 students)

Wonderland Tea Party on stage, (with characters from our musical)

Feb 26- “Pre-Assessment Band Concert” @ BHS, with BHS Band (38 students).

March 4 “VBODA Band Assessment” @HHS (38 students, required for 7th/8th Band).

March 13 “Alice in Wonderland Jr.”, Mar 13th-14th-15th (90 students, by audition)

March 16, “All-District Jazz” at BC, all day reh. with 6pm concert (2 students, by audition)

There are still many things to come, so mark your calendars! Keep in mind that YOU might be up on stage with us, performing next year– if you take Band, Choir or Musical Theatre as a JFH student!

April 9 “Instrument Petting Zoo #1”, during Community Night, 5:30-7pm, JFH Band Room

April 16 “Instrument Petting Zoo #2”, during Community Night, 5:30-7pm JFH Band Room

April 23 Spring Performance Showcase, 7pm  (approx. 55-60 students) (Small Ens/Individual, Band/Choir/Theatre)
