Most kids spend the summer just playing and going on vacation. But Cub Scouts from Pack 1 in Northern Rockingham County that represent youth from Broadway, Timberville, Lacey Spring, Fulks Run, and Linville-Edom areas provided over 60 hours of community service. They participated in May, with the Memorial Day Veteran flag placements and removals at the area cemeteries; in June, with Flag Day Program by retiring over 150 flags in Timberville; both in June and July, setting up booths at the Broadway Farmer’s Market allowing youths to practice scouting skills; in July, participated at the Red, White & Brew in Broadway to encourage youths to join scouts; and in August, participated in One Night for Broadway again allowing youths to see what scouting is all about. They wrapped up their summer in August, working the Bergton Fair parking cars for 4 days, as well. 15 of 20 cub scouts from the pack participated in these events along with over 20 adults. Thank You for your service and making an impact in your community. Join these scouts K-5th grade Tuesdays at 630pm at Sunset Drive UMC.
