We are Sam and Kim Wilkins and we are retired full time RVers in search of 70 degree weather. Our home is now a 42-foot fifth wheel.
We sold our home and most of our belongings in order to see what this great United States has to offer by way of beautiful scenery. Along the way we have met some of the nicest people.
So, there was a total eclipse of the sun and many posts and pictures provided views from all over the country. We were having a relaxing day in the pool and weren’t prepared with special glasses, so we didn’t get to see much except a beautiful ring around the sun.
We were invited to visit our friends, Mike & Joyce Teets, on Lake George here in Florida for some fishing. We started out with a rainstorm then had some very sunny days to enjoy catching crappie and catfish. My freezer is stocked up again. One very docile and large manatee floated by, such beautiful creatures. Such a blessing to enjoy friends, good food and nature’s beauty.
We said a tearful goodbye to our snowbird friends and have left Florida. The first stop on our way home was a Harvest Host called Herd It Here, an alpaca farm, in Cottageville SC. We’d never experienced alpaca’s before and learned a lot about them on a tour that was provided. They also had a horse rescue, a miniature donkey & pony, miniature cows along with a bunch of fainting goats. We met one little cutie named Sassy. What a relaxing place to visit.
We stopped at a Buc-ee’s in SC, these places are always an adventure, such a busy place. We’ve been to others, and it is still amazing to see. Rockingham/Augusta County will soon experience the hussle and bussle and enjoy Beaver Nuggets, BBQ of every kind, jerky galore and a huge gift shop.
We are currently in Longs SC staying at Willow Tree Campground, such a beautiful resort. We’d never been to Myrtle Beach so we thought we would go out of route just a bit to check it out. It is a very busy tourist area but I put my feet in the ocean and enjoy some seafood.
While here in SC my sister, Dawn, had a stroke and was life flighted to Roanoke where they found a tumor on her brain. Surgery to remove it was successful and she is on the road to recovery. I am so touched and thankful to all my family and friends who lifted her and her family up in prayer during this time. She’s got a long road ahead but she’s a tough ol’ Hillbilly and looks forward to full recovery so keep those prayers coming!
We will be back in WV in just a few days and look forward to seeing family and friends as well as sharing stories of our snowboarding adventures.
