Lacey Spring Elementary School Receives Grant from the Arts Council of the Valley
The Arts Council of the Valley has awarded $500 to Lacey Spring Elementary School as part of their Advancing the Arts grant. Lacey Spring’s project titled “Artistry with Foundations in Literacy” will stimulate critical thinking, add to social discourse, and contribute to arts enrichment for the Harrisonburg-Rockingham community.
Rockingham County Public Schools Receives Books from Toys for Tots Literacy Program
Each of the 13 Title I Schools in Rockingham County received thousands of books from the Marine Toys for Tots Foundation’s Literacy Program. The books were distributed directly to students or will be used in libraries or classrooms. The books were provided to the division for free due to a charitable donation from The UPS Store as well as the generosity of the American public. Books were provided that focus on STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Math) as well as titles that provide both entertainment and enrichment.
