I have proudly called Broadway home for a total of 21 years, including the past 6 years. My service with the Broadway Volunteer Fire Department (37 years) also led me to a career in emergency services, where I served for 26 years before retiring in March 2022.
Early in my career, I responded directly to emergency incidents. After being promoted into supervisory roles, I continued responding while also directing operations on the scene—leading personnel, coordinating resources, and ensuring incidents were resolved with efficiency and professionalism. Later, as Director of Emergency Services, I was ultimately responsible for emergency operations across the entire County, including the Fire/EMS Department and the 911 Center.
That role gave me extensive leadership and government experience, such as:
• Preparing and managing an approximate $3 million budget
• Overseeing an approximate $7 million countywide project
• Attending local, state, and federal meetings under strict guidelines
• Purchasing through state contracts
• Writing, procuring, and overseeing state and federal grants
Beyond these responsibilities, the most valuable lessons I gained from working in local government include:
• Being a good steward of taxpayers’ money
• Prioritizing needs over wants
• Recognizing that just because funds are available doesn’t mean they should be spent
• Remembering that public officials ultimately answer to the citizens they serve
I believe the Town of Broadway needs council members who are financially responsible, accountable, and who listen to the concerns of our citizens. Ultimately, they need someone to bring the pride of being a citizen back to Broadway and someone they can trust to have the resident’s best interest in mind. My background and experience uniquely qualifies me to serve in that role, and I would be honored to represent you on Town Council.
