We are Sam and Kim Wilkins, and we are retired full time RVers in search of 70-degree weather. Our home is now a 42-foot fifth wheel.
We sold our home and most of our belongings in order to see what this great US has to offer by way of beautiful scenery. Along the way we have met some of the nicest people!
With my birthday trip to Hawaii in my rear view and reality back in the windshield that is my life we are winding down our snowbird stay here in Florida (God’s waiting room) and we will be leaving in 6 days. Our plan is to be back in Wild and Wonderful by May 4th. We are very much looking forward to catching up with family and friends. Seeing everyone in person is much preferred over FaceTime.

We had the pleasure of two of our grandsons visiting us, Matthew and Levi flew down for a week. We had such a great time showing them where we are and what we do to entertain ourselves. We were invited to stay with our friends, Mike and Joyce, at their summer home and the men spent a lot of hours fishing. They were able to bring in some beauties! They helped pull in some crab pots and they both tried their hand at picking meat out of a blue crab, neither were impressed! There is a driving range here, so they took full advantage of that, they both are quite talented. We took them to Paynes Prairie Preserve to see lots of gators. We rode the glass bottom boat with them. Playing putt putt here at the resort is free to residents so I took the opportunity to beat them at it. Sam even joined in for one round. Lastly, we drove the Jeep out on St. Augustine beach and played in the surf and got some FL sun. I’m almost out of sunscreen! Putting them on the plane to go home was sad but we’ll see them again soon. Levi is now a truck owner and has his learners, soon to be full on license!
My cousin, Janet, is in a retirement community since a fall in September of 2024 so I drove to Jacksonville and spent the day with her. Old people can still get rowdy!
All of our friends who made the decision to change to the campground we are in now (don’t tell Keystone Heights Resort that I referred to it as a campground or they might kick us out) have all gone to their respective homes and we are the last man standing. Saying goodbye trying not to cry is harder as you get older, tomorrow is never promised.
We are taking our time, as retirees often do, and packing up a little at a time. One of the best parts of living the full time RV lifestyle is that most of our worldly possessions fit in this 400 square feet fifth-wheel so all we do really is rearrange. The difference with this year is that we have a shed where we can leave some items that aren’t necessary to have in WV, so our load is a little lighter.
We count our blessings every day. We are both relatively healthy and can get around. We ride our E-bikes every day, Sam is the overachiever! As we pray for those fighting illnesses and going into their twilight years and those whose race is finished, we try to be thankful and grateful for our lifestyle. I am blessed to have all of you, for your feedback to me and my family regarding my articles and how much you enjoy them. God is good! All the time!
Blessing until next time!
Kim
