Turn up the Hawks!
Dear Broadway Community,
On behalf of the students and staff at J. Frank Hillyard Middle School (JFHMS), I am writing to ask for your support for the “Turn Up the Hawks”, yearlong fundraising project. Our large gymnasium’s sound system is old, failing, and desperately in need of an upgrade. This isn’t just a gym; it’s the only space big enough to host all 750+ students and staff for vital, school-wide events including our Veteran’s Day Assembly and end of term Pep Rally celebrations. A clear, working sound system is a critical need, not a luxury, to ensure these key educational and celebratory moments aren’t hampered by poor audio. The cost to professionally repair and upgrade the system is approximately $20,000, an amount that is far outside our 2025-26 budget.
This letter is only one aspect of the “Turn Up the Hawks” project. We have projects happening at several events throughout the school year. Your kind donation would be a direct investment in:
- Audience Engagement: Ensuring everyone can hear announcements and recognitions clearly.
- Clear Communication: Providing access to appropriate and professional audio for school wide assemblies, athletic events and other school functions, not to mention daily gym classes.
- Community Pride: Enhancing the atmosphere of the Hillyard Hawks, for all public events
