Happy July!
We just got back from our family vacation to Chincoteague and Assateague Island. We rented a beach house and spent the week together. Our house was on the sound, and we were excited about getting photos of the magnificent sunsets on the water. Unfortunately (for sunset pics, at least), seven of the eight days we stayed there were cloudy. While the clouds blocked the sun, they also blocked the heat. We were able to spend days at the beach without scorching in the ultraviolet rays and without being eaten alive by giant flies and mosquitoes. It was fun hanging out with the kiddos and the grands. I must admit I’m out of practice living around little ones though!
Our garden is loving the rain! I think the corn grew a foot while we were away. We have a small garden, but when the weather cooperates, we do well with corn, tomatoes, and squash. I also have high hopes for the cucumbers this year. Randy put up a cute little lattice fence for them to climb. Time will tell if they appreciate his efforts.
We hope you enjoy this month’s edition of the Chronicle. As always, it’s packed full of stories and local news. Thank you for the positive feedback you give! As most of you know, the CRC is not in any way a money-making endeavor. We all volunteer our time and creative efforts and are happy to give back to the community. A huge thank you to the writers who faithfully send in stories every month, Also, a big thank you to our advertisers who sponsor the printing costs.
I hope you enjoy this hot summer month!
Talk to you soon!
Tammy
