Fall is almost here! I’ve noticed a few early-bird geese headed out of town, and the squirrels in my backyard are gathering sunflower seeds from the bird feeders on the deck. As I’m writing this, the weather forecasters are talking about a front moving in, causing temperatures to drop into the upper 40s at night. I’m fine with that!
We’re still getting corn from the garden, but everything else has pretty much spun itself out. We do still have potatoes popping up everywhere, though. We forgot to dig them several years in a row, and now they’re self-seeding all over the place! And then, there are the morning glories! My mom had a personal vendetta against the lovely little blooms, and she’d pull them out of the garden before they got an inch tall. If she’s watching from heaven, I know she’s probably pretty disgusted at my lack of taming the wild vines. ☺
If you attend the Broadway Fall Festival on September 13, be sure to stop by our Chimney Rock Chronicle booth. We’d love to see you. You’ll also have a chance to meet many of our writers at a special event sponsored by the Plains District Memorial Museum. On October 12 at 2:00 pm, we’ll present a special program about the history of the CRC, and you’ll have an opportunity to ask our writers any questions you may have. So, mark your calendars for a fun “meet and greet” time with us!
I hope you enjoy the stories in the Chronicle this month. As usual, it’s packed full of information. If you get a chance, thank our business sponsors for their help. We wouldn’t exist without the financial support they offer. Thank you, too, readers, for your loyal support. Together, we can keep publishing positive and uplifting stories that bring our communities together.
Until next time,
<3
Tammy
