We are Sam and Kim Wilkins, and we are retired full time RVers in search of 70 degree weather. Our home is now a 42-foot fifth wheel.
We sold our home and most of our belongings in order to see what this great United States has to offer by way of beautiful scenery. Along the way we have met some of the nicest people.

We are safe and sound back in Almost Heaven, WV! It is good to be back home again. We are quickly getting back into the swing of things. We’ve met some new people here at the campground and reconnected with old friends. We’ve visited with almost all of our family already, something I was so looking forward to doing. We’re also getting back to attending church, Broadway Baptist Church, and seeing all of our friends there.
I had a good Mother’s Day receiving calls, texts, cards, gifts and seeing some family at church. I hope all mothers were celebrated. For those of us whose mothers have passed on there is a bitter sweetness. I thought of my mother and recalled some very fond memories like hiking up to Cranny Crow, playing on some old playground equipment as an adult with her, annual trips to Dolly Sods to pick blueberries, a family vacation driving to California in a wood panel station wagon and a popup camper and bringing her a basket full of colorful petunias. She was a mother to the six of us and there was always an extra, either a foster child, family member or a friend staying with us. That’s a lot of mothering. I didn’t say it enough while she was on this earth so I will say it now, Thanks Mom!
We watched a rubber duck race with around 2500 of them floating down Lost River, what a colorful sight. This is put on every year by the local 4H club and it is their biggest fundraiser. They sell food and give out raffle tickets for prize giveaways. The water in the river was a little low so it took a bit longer but standing along the river and chatting with friends was fun. We didn’t win any prizes, but it was a beautiful day, you are always a winner when you’re out in the country alongside a river enjoying the sunshine.
We attended a ballet recital for our granddaughter, Penelope. What fun it was to watch kids of all ages performing for friends and family and showing off their talents after practicing for a long time. We were able to see Penelope’s baby sister, Clover, who turned a year old while we were snowbirding in FL. Seems they’ve both grown so much. They grow up so fast, don’t blink!
I attended an awards assembly for my grandson, Levi, at Cornerstone Christian School. They took time to recognize each one of the high schoolers in a special way.
I was able to spend some time with my grandson, Matthew, during one of his treatments. He has five more to go and is doing quite well with them and is looking forward to getting them finished. We are praying he will be able to get back to his very active life and the feeling of normalcy very soon. Thank you for your continued prayer support.
Blessings till next time,
Kim
