We are Sam and Kim Wilkins and we are retired full time RVers in search of 70-degree weather. Our home is now a 42-foot fifth wheel.
We sold our home and most of our belongings in order to see what this great United States has to offer by way of beautiful scenery. Along the way we have met some of the nicest people.
Go to Florida they said! It’s the sunshine state they said! We’ve had some cold nights and some frosty mornings. We’ve had to use our electric fireplace and space heater along with our furnace. Okay, I’ll quit complaining ’cause we are blessed and I know there is much colder weather back home in West Virginia and around the country with a cold front moving in threatening actual feet of snow. We are very grateful to be in a warmer climate. It is “winter” after all.
We have been enjoying this, new to us, campground. There are lots of activities. We have also been reconnecting with friends we’ve been snowbirding with for the last 5 years. We meet them for wings on Monday evenings. We enjoy BINGO on Tuesdays (I’ve already won $96 and Sam has won $44!). Friday nights are karaoke. For the last two Saturdays there has been a band entertaining us. I’m back to attending services at a local Baptist church that I’ve fallen in love with and Sam has been attending a service offered here at the campground. The gym here is a good one with no membership fee so I’ve been taking advantage it on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays. I have been able to be in the pool and hot tub several times. Proofreading this I am realizing just how old we sound living in a 55 and older campground and enjoying these activities.
An event we’ve enjoyed for the past few years is the Tampa FL RV Super Show. There are tons of camper sales companies with hundreds of the newest campers on display. There are barns full of vendors with the latest and greatest camping equipment, kitchen utensils and everyday items. The food vendors trucks are parked on every corner ready to offer some of the best smelling offerings. Then there is the entertainment. There are talking robots, 30-foot scarecrows, a living talking bush, clowns and many other things to entertain both young and old alike. We tried to take in so much that we racked up with almost 14,000 steps, that is just over 6 1/2 miles. How’s that for two retirees?
There are lots of those in our hearts and minds that are dealing with sickness, pain or are in the hospital. Sam is finally getting relief from a cough he’s been dealing with since hunting season. During this cold and flu season our prayer lists seem to grow. We pray the Lord’s blessing over each and every one of you.
Blessings until next time.
Kim
