Due to total hip replacement surgery, I haven’t been on the water for a couple of months, and most likely won’t wet a line until the first of March. So, I really don’t have much of a report for our readers. But with my years spent on the water I can tell you February can be a brutal month. Most likely it will be cold. Water temperatures will hover in the mid to upper 30’s, and there will likely be ice on the water. The report I am getting from anglers is that the Shenandoah River is low, clear, and cold.
For February, fish will remain in their deeper wintering holes for the majority of the time. If we have a couple of warm days, it is possible to find fish in shallower areas, mainly during mid-day hours.
Lure selection is fairly simple this month. Jerk baits and jigs with a chunk trailer. So, if you can brave the cold and get the opportunity to get on the water – go. Late February can be a big bass producer. There is hope. Spring is just around the bend.
Do you have the assurance that when you die, or if Jesus returned today, you would go to heaven? Jesus says, “I tell you the truth, unless you are born again, you cannot see the Kingdom of God” (John 3:3). If you have never accepted Jesus as the Lord and Savior of your life, I would encourage you to think about this important decision, for it will determine where you spend eternity, either heaven or hell. Realize that God loves you and has a plan for your life. If Jesus came back 5 minutes ago, where would you be?
God Bless,
Mike,
