Tuesday, March 5th @ 2 pm: Cupcake Challenge. School is out and kids are invited to come show off their cupcake decorating skills! All supplies are provided. This program requires preregistration @ www.mrlib.org and is limited to ten participants.

Rock of Ages

Featuring a cast and crew of 80 students, Rock of Ages: Youth Edition will be performed live at JFHMS on 

March 8th at 7pm, March 9th at 7pm and March 10th at 3pm. 

Tickets are available at the door only, for $6.00 each. All seats are general admission. 

With 80’s rock favorites dominating the playlist, this show is sure to have a sell out crowd, so arrive early! Rock of Ages: Youth Edition is performed in agreement with Concord Theatricals, www.concordtheatricals.com

Saturday, March 9 @ 11 am: Dogs 2 Read 2. Come read with Kenna, our certified therapy dog.

Be sure to sign up for the 2024 Carolyn Cook Memorial Scholarship 5k. 

Join us on Saturday, March 16 at 9AM at Broadway Community Park for a fun morning with this family friendly run and walk to honor Carolyn Cook and her impact on the BHS community and our students!

Participants will enjoy a lovely 5k scenic course around the Broadway Community or an optional shorter 1.6 mile loop. The course will begin and end at the Broadway Community Park (102 S Sunset Dr, Broadway, VA 22815). Strollers and pets are welcome. Refreshments and prizes will follow the race. Prizes will be awarded to the top finishers for each gender and age group. Door prizes will be drawn!

Broadway Bruins will host a chicken barbecue Saturday March 21 at Food Lion parking lot

Saturday, March 23rd @ 11 am: Your Legacy, Your Story. Everyone has a story, and our stories are the legacy we leave behind. These stories connect generations, share legacies, and offer new perspectives on a life well-lived. We will explore why sharing our life stories is important, ways to preserve your legacy, and tips to help you get started no matter where you are in the process. This program is led by Teresa Townsend, a personal historian with Tapestry, LLC.

New Market Area Library Adult Program

The March 2024 New Market Area Library Adult program will feature the return of a favorite presenter from a few years ago, Claire Comer, Interpretive Specialist with the Shenandoah National Park.  They are opening a new exhibit entitled: Life at Lewis Mountain: Shenandoah in the Jim Crow Era”. It will be held on Sunday, March 10 2 2:00 p.m. It is free and requires no pre-registration; details are in the attached flyer!

New Market Area Library Children’s Programs for March 2024

Families are invited to the Celebration of the Winter Reading Program/Read Across America event, on Wednesday, March 6th from 5-6 pm. (Snow date is Wednesday, March 13th.)  Each child who brings their completed winter reading log will receive a book as a reward!  Children can participate in a variety of activities on Celebration evening, including crafts and reading of books by favorite children’s authors. 

Books and Babies will also be March 6th at 10 am.  “In Like a Lion, Out Like a Lamb” will be the theme as children ages 0-3 and their caregivers listen to books, sing, do chants, perhaps a March jig, and play together.

Preschool Story Time will be March 15th at 10 am.  “Hooray for Hats!” is the theme.  Children ages 3-6 are invited to come wearing a favorite hat!  Children can enjoy stories, rhymes and songs, all about hats!

If Shenandoah County Public Schools are cancelled due to inclement weather, the New Market Area Library children’s activities will be cancelled that day!
