It seems that Christopher manages to go far afield in his search for the perfect treasure, while Pat remains closer to home!
This past month, Christopher traveled to Charlottesville, New Market, and Mt Jackson, checking out his favorite shops.
Country Roads Antiques offered so many items that he could not resist! It is in the old Indian Trading Shop just south of the covered bridge, south of Mt. Jackson, near the high school.
Shenandoah Valley Flea Market, and of course, J&B Country Store in Broadway, offered some irresistible scores.
There were too many items to list, but among his favorites were some very collectible English Pimpernel placemats and coasters – both hunt scenes and fruit/floral. Some shoe lasts, an ornate wrought iron flowerpot stand, and a cedar desk box. Some holiday figurines, a little black dog with a “club” foot(!), and a hurricane lamp.
Pat’s scores were some high-end, name brand clothing at both Timberville’s Mercy House and Broadway’s The Mercantile on Main. You can’t beat timeless Land’s End and Banana Republic sweaters for pennies on the dollar!
Also found at J&B was a 1920’s Hull pottery flowerpot, in the coveted green, and a circa 1950s Shawnee elephant planter.
Not pictured, but at Mercy House she found what she thought was a baggie of unfinished crocheted doily scraps – which turned out to be 15 perfect little crocheted owls, of varying sizes and colors! An antique Noritake trio rounded out Pat’s finds for the month,
Some of the spots to check out in the coming months will be Winchester Area SPCA Thrift Store, and The Black Shutter 2 in /Stephen City. A private barn sale is also on the list for those 2 treasure hunters! Let’s not forget The Mercantile on Main’s Grand Opening on December 6th!
