We are Sam and Kim Wilkins, and we are retired full time RVers in search of 70-degree weather. Our home is now a 42-foot fifth wheel.
We sold our home and most of our belongings in order to see what this great United States has to offer by way of beautiful scenery. Along the way we have met some of the nicest people.
My friends, Amy, Allison and I traveled to Lancaster PA to see the presentation of “Noah” at Sight and Sound. This was my sixth show to see there, and I am always amazed at the staging of these productions. I have read the Bible stories all my life but to see them brought to life takes my breath away. It is a yearly tradition to which I have very much come to look forward.
I traveled south to Princeton WV to visit my sister, Dawn, who is doing so very well. Her physical therapy on her arm, which she hasn’t had use of since the surgery to remove the tumor from her brain, is making progress. Enjoying two visits with her in one summer has been such a blessing. Seeing her with her grandson, Connor, always makes me laugh. Their relationship is the sweetest to watch.
While visiting my sister I had the pleasure of staying with my friend, Sabrina, with whom I graduated High School. She was also the maid of honor in my wedding. We hadn’t seen each other in almost 10 years but this friendship is one where we picked up as if we’d never been apart. We stayed up for late night chats catching up with our lives. Her husband, Sam, and her stepdaughter, Sarah, made me feel very welcome.
My grandson, Matthew, has finished all his treatments and all the scans have found him cancer free. He rang the bell at the cancer center at UVA accompanied by numerous friends and family surrounding him. We are so very appreciative of the prayers lifted up on his behalf. The happy ending to this story is testament that prayer does work. He also celebrated his 19th birthday, so Sam and I took him out for lunch and fed him a 20 oz steak, and he ate every bite. He rounded off the meal with a birthday sundae. He is so happy to now be walking without any assistance, no walker or cane. His goal to be back to 100% by deer season is within sight!
My great niece, Emma Grace Brown, was born on July 28th with a heart defect and is currently at Duke University Hospital. She’s had the first of three operations to correct the defect. Dad, Mom and I would be so very grateful for lifting this tiny little champion up in prayer.
My brother, Scotty, had open heart surgery to correct a valve and is home now healing up. He lives in SD and was a patient at the Mayo Clinic in Minneapolis MN and was very well taken care of.
So many prayer needs as we age. My friend, Tammy, is still being treated for liver cancer. My cousin, Janet, is still convalescing from head trauma. I am so very thankful for family, friends and our church to be able to lift up each and every need!
Blessings until next time.
Kim
